MANAGING in the

NEW WORLD

There are certain behaviours that successful business leaders avoid while forging relationships. Needless to say, they need to be avoided as they are barriers. One such barrier is that some leaders think of themselves as self-sufficient and thus not needing help under any circumstances from anyone. The priorities set may be incorrect for a start. Being too busy is not always a good thing, as then the little things that go a long way is establishing connect, get lost. The leader may lack corporate communications skills. To rectify, one must start by asking oneself six questions which may be categorized as the five Ws and one H. These are- who, when, where, what, why and how. It is essential to be transparent and show one’s real self rather than hiding behind a cloak of pretention. A few positive factors have also been identified starting with relationships being designated a priority as only then can one succeed at talent management. Another tenet of this art is to appreciate the other when good work has been done. And finally, one needs to be generous in doling out kindness as it elicits loyalty and cooperation from the other side.
