MANAGING in the

NEW WORLD

Google took on an assignment to understand the reasons that make for the best collaboration within teams. For this, Project Aristotle was launched, headed by the director of the people analytics division. More than 180 teams have been studied, while around 200 interviews have been conducted. In addition, psychologists from top universities such as MIT, Union College and Carnegie Mellon have also pitched in with their own ideas on this. Five traits were observed among the best of teams, starting with dependability. This is followed by a clear structure and clarity at work. Each member has a meaning to his/her work. The group is acutely conscious of the impact their work makes. Another key tenet in talent management deciphered was the psychological safety the team members had with this particular set of people besides them, which all teams will not be able to replicate.
