MANAGING in the

NEW WORLD

Due to the onslaught of automation several jobs face the threat of being left redundant. But certain skills are in no hurry to be automated, so are the ones that today’s youngsters must lap up. One obvious one is communication. While there are robots that can now process voice, none would be able to deliver soul-stirring speeches like real people. Content is something which robots may possess but processing them to make meaningful information out of is still a human domain. While enormous quantities of data warehousing is now possible even in the smallest of chips, without understanding the right context such data can never be properly utilized. Robots may be able to perform routine activities but will never possess the kind of emotional competence truly required. Online resources are now available to impart lessons but the real teaching or the related field of management training will still be performed by people. Otherwise the emotional connect so needed can never be truly established. Human beings are also experts at networking by finding the right connections. And finally, we come to ethics, which again robots cannot also distinguish between the good and bad.
