Africa is one of the fastest growing regions in the world in terms of inbound tourist numbers. As per tourism consulting provided by the UNWTO, the growth in tourism has been pegged at nine percent for the region. This includes a higher percentage in North Africa in double figures in contrast to single digit growth in sub-Saharan Africa. The country of Mauritius in particular has grown significantly due to its Open Visa policy with most African countries. They are also tailoring the experiences depending on the varied clientele. African tourists have been noted to have a particular fondness for cultural and discovery tourism.
