How Ukrainian (In)Hospitality is damaging the Country’s Image
Ukraine was a country with a steady supply of tourists till the year 2014 when the Crimean crisis hit. AT its peak, inbound arrivals numbered in excess of 24 million. This came crashing down to about half the figure in a single year. While it has been improving, certain setbacks are not helping. One such is the treatment that several foreign arrivals are experiencing in the country. Liverpool football club fans for example when beaten up by masked vigilantes. There was a high-ranking official in the US embassy who faced similar assault. The case with illegal prostitutes is another dark mark with several foreign tourists using them, only to be cheated or looted then. In a stagnating economy tourism is one area of respite as it has been generating travel jobs for a while now. So, this abuse of foreign travelers has to be dealt with strongly.
