Skyline has conducted a Seminar on Supply Chain Management for Management students. This helps the student to understand the key concept of SCM very well. Below is the summary:-
FUNDAMENTAL OF SUPPLY CHAIN:-
Supply chain is a set of activities ( E.G. Purchasing, manufacturing, logistics, distribution, marketing) that parform the function of delivering value to and customer. Traditionally, all the business units along a supply chain have their own objectives and these are often conflicting. There is no single Plan to carry out supply chain activities.
SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT GOAL:- Matching supply and demand in the most cost effective way.
NEED FOR SUPPLY CHAIN:-

(1) Puss Process:- In which order is executed in anticipation to customer order. e.g. Nestle
(2) Pull Process:- In which order is executed in response to the customer order. e.g Dell
(3) Outsourcing:- Moving some of the firms internal activities and decisions to outside Provides
