Management gurus or leadership thinkers are often asked about leadership mantras. Yet after much deliberation, no single style has emerged. Leadership is not an outcome of buzzwords and various styles hashed into one. Instead it is the cultivation of one’s genuine self. A match has to be found between a leader’s true values and his/her actions. Whatever the leader oneself believes in, will translate into real actions. A leader’s corporate strategy must involve an adherence towards authentic beliefs. This will create a bond with the team members. For a start, non-negotiable values must be listed down. Then a breakup must be done on factors which are usually demonstrated and those behaviours that fall short. Finally, an analysis must be done on how best to close down this gap.
