Sports tourism is one of the top sub-sectors within the broader area of tourism. The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) has collated business intelligence that points out that sports tourism accounts for a fourth of the entire tourism sector’s income. Like the rest of the world, Chile too has grown substantially registering a twenty-five percent growth over the past five years. It is males who drive this growth forming over four-fifths of the total. The corporate market too has now joined in this. Major events driving this growth are- Grand Prix Motorcycle, Formula 1 and marathons.
