MANAGING in the

NEW WORLD

While the concept of the sharing economy seems to have affected all, the one sector, perhaps most affected is tourism. Airbnb for instance has displaced several hoteliers due to its unique offerings. This effect is testified by the business intelligence from PwC. The company states that about twenty- two percent of all sharing deals worldwide, across industries, takes place for private overnight stays. This proportion has grown by six times since the year 2010. Bla- bla car has had a similar impact on transportation, especially in France. Online provider Yescapa, also from France is even more advanced than Airbnb, with a more mobile approach. Classic tour operators have now been left in the lurch, and only dreaming of entering the league of Uber, Lyft or Airbnb.
