MANAGING in the

NEW WORLD

An oft repeated quotation by Peter Drucker is, “corporate culture east strategy for breakfast”. While some consider this statement as just a fad, but deeper analysis suggests it works on most occasions. A particular example of Bluedrop and Atlantis will confirm the same. Atlantis was an industry giant with revenues in excess of thirty million US dollars when Bluedrop entered the market. Yet it is the latter which went on to acquire the former primarily because it had a better work culture. Bluedrop focused heavily on talent recruitment and provided these people with the best of support to grow organically within the firm. Atlantis on the other had had a broken culture where the entire focus went on defeating Bluedrop once the latter started emerging as a competitor. Atlantis’s own employees started switching over to Bluedrop. No long term planning was being done and creativity was being stymied by short-term business goals.
