In the present scenario, all organizations are talking about company culture. Some find theirs innovative, others positive, some even toxic. But it must be understood that company culture is created not as a by – product of operations but by a certain mindset. United Airlines prides itself on safety and makes it a point that all meetings begin with a declaration about the exit points in case of fire. Amazon similarly is built on the foundations of business innovation and knows that for each substantial gain, an incremental opportunity cost is lost. So it is prepared to take the risks knowing fully well that for such substantial gains, failures were more likely. It is company leaders who set the pattern, but even they may find it impossible to change an existing mindset. Sometimes leaders themselves get difficult to alter.
