MANAGING in the

NEW WORLD

Some key leadership fails have been compiled so that they may not be repeated. These must be taken up by aspiring leaders as challenges. Leaders must never succumb to the temptation of doing easy, repetitive things but instead constantly try out new aspects. Traditionally leadership was a top-down hierarchical process. Now it is more of a discussion, involving the whole team at an equal level. Hierarchies break down further in an Internet-of-Things (IoT) connected world. There must also be constant connect at the tactical level to move away from a focus only on the bigger picture of corporate strategy. Little things at work place provide instant feedback to colleagues so this feeds the call to action. Leaders must also avoid conflicts in priority. They must clearly streamline between what functions are of utmost importance and which can be pushed to the backburner. Micromanaging serves little purpose when they cannot affect the overall scheme of things.
