Speaker: Mr. K.K.Verma- Director (Programs) – Child Reach International India

Mr. K.K.Verma, alumni of IIT-Kharagpur, who has been working in development sector since last 34 years. Mr. Verma had undergone Management training in Health and Family Planning Programs from Management Sciences for Health, Boston, USA. Mr. K Verma had the privilege of working with Government of India, International NGOs and the United Nations as a representative prior to working with Smile Foundation as Director and is presently working with Childreach International India as Director-Programs.

He gave insight specially emphasizing that each individual has certain responsibility towards the society and informed about his own organization and how our college students can get associated with various projects. Individual Social responsibility could be anything right from helping a blind man cross the road to cleaning up garbage piled up in the park next to one’s home to feeding poor children etc.Though government is overall responsible for national development, but development touches every life and all are equal stakeholders. So it is time for coming forward, owning up and taking responsibility.Its time for Individual Social responsibility that includes the engagement of each person towards the community where he lives, which can be expressed as an interest towards what is happening in the community.

“It is for an individual to decide what, where and how he wants to bring a change.”

The session was quite interactive. The speaker shared his viewpoints over the emerging issues on the subject. Students from Skyline College were also given an opportunity to share their views and clear their doubts. Overall it was a very good learning experience on part of the students.
