Azerbaijan’s campaign on “Land of Fire” and devaluation of the currency has meant that the country has seen record inbound tourist arrivals this year. The tourist arrivals have in fact increased thirty times over the same period last year. Numbers provided by tourism consulting body the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) has out a figure of 1.7 billion US dollars’ revenue. Azerbaijan is particularly popular among travelers from the Middle East belt with lots of tourist arrivals from Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Iraq, Kuwait and Qatar. Besides budget hotels, five star facilities are also available with top hoteliers Hilton, Four Seasons, Fairmont, Kempinski and JW Marriott all setting up base in the country.
