MANAGING in the

NEW WORLD

Like all human beings, organizational leaders too have their set of blind spots. And like all other such people, these leaders also often fail to see past their blind spots. This leads to erratic, and faulty decision- making. It happens because of a traditional leader- driven view, that their views and the ‘gut- feeling’ are always correct. This is especially true for the ‘soft’ issues such as talent management and organizational culture. Fortunately, as revealed from a latest McKinsey survey, most leaders do recognize that most often decision- making may get faulty. To bridge this gap, it is essential that leaders gauge authentic business intelligence by listening to the right audience. Asking employees, the questions for example will also help reduce or even eliminate the confirmation biases inherent among all. Data needs to be used as a powerful tool to counter these traditional biases.
