Ivan Seidenberg was one of the legendary leaders at Verizon. He took over, what was then merely Baby Bell, before transforming it in to one of the largest tech companies in the world. Besides organic growth, the company benefitted massively from strategic tie- ups such through mergers and acquisitions. Several leadership lessons have emerged from the works of Ivan Seidenberg. The first such lesson is to be in control of the company’s future. The use of predictive analytics will be a good tool to go over this. The focus has to be pin pointed towards the ideal end results. A sense of accountability needs to be honed within the organization. Competition needs to be encouraged. Wherever it gets too tough, one must embrace the situation and take it head on. The talent recruitment process too needs to be geared towards hiring people with a future- minded orientation.
