The Cure for the Loneliness of Command
Being a CEO actually goes a long way in explaining the cliché- lonely at the top. A CEO’s job is so stressful, he/ she often becomes addicted to alcohol or other such measures. A CEO often becomes the target for envious or even outright hostile feelings. Its like living in an echo chamber, because whatever one says, bounces back, even after taking utmost precaution. CEOs are often characterized by a sense of paranoia gripping them. To prepare against such situations, a CEO needs to be mentally prepared for the worst. An external network of support needs to be built. A very good practice for talent management is to express gratitude towards whoever has contributed at any time towards the good of the company. This helps in curating of positive emotions, so good experiences may be relished.
