There is a brand of leadership which produces meta- leaders. These meta- leaders are those whose commitment and passions inspires all others in the team. Such leaders don’t shy away from being the centre of attention, even if they don’t deliberately seek the same. They are also the kind of leaders one wishes to work under during crises situations. This is because they can generate business innovations where none apparently existed. The “you’re it” moment can come at any given time. Leaders who have experienced this moment, grow their influence beyond merely their formal authority. There are three broad dimensions to meta- leadership. One is the leader himself or herself. Another is the situation, with the third being connectivity. One can only emerge as a meta- leader when the person has led amidst such complexity.
