MANAGING in the

NEW WORLD

The human brain has two broad divisions. One is the pre- frontal cortex, while the other is the amygdala. People whose dominant side revolves around the former, tend to be reactive and impulsive. Those where the latter dominates, are much more thoughtful, and their actions deliberate. It is the latter type, who tend to be far more successful as global business leaders. This is because they can concentrate on the bigger picture, working on aspects outlined in the corporate strategy document, rather than micro- manage, and work on the nitty- gritty. One needs to avoid the inner lawyer that tends to delay or provide excuses for tasks not completed. These two selves outlined, need to be played out against each other, by the individual, to strike the right balance.
