Shopping Tourism is the Gold mine for Italian Cities
Shopping tourism is fast emerging as one of the major arteries for the travel industry in Italy. As per business intelligence shared by the Shopping Tourism Italian Monitor, the most visited cities for this purpose in Italy are- Milan, Florence, Rome, Turin and Venice. The percentage of share ranks highest at Milan which is in fact the number one destination in the world for shopping tourism followed by New York City, London and Paris. The Milan Fashion Week receives maximum citations. It is notably increasing in popularity and awareness among Russian travellers. On average, a shopping tourist spends one-hundred and ten Euros a day. The majority of this is spent on clothes, followed by accessories such as leather goods. Cosmetics and perfumes ranks third. Greater focus still needs to be paid on the “made in Italy” tag. Also, relations need be improved between the shopping villages and city centres.
