Increasingly volcanoes are attracting the curiosity of travelers. Volcano tourism is rising in a big way, but is posing questions of safety. There are over fifteen hundred volcanoes worldwide, posing a massive threat to life and air travel. Countries as far apart as Iceland, Italy and Indonesia have been severely impacted by them. Some form of responsible volcanic tourism is important so that people understand what actually goes on in them, but reckless behaviour can lead to massive repercussions. Volcano trekking needs to be taken with a lot of care. This business innovation by several travel operators is bringing in the moolah, especially in South and Central America. But the organizers need to be doubly careful, as several of these volcanoes lie on extremely high elevations.
